2026 Arabic Immersion
Summer Day Camp
Kalimah Programs concluded its 9th annual STEAM Arabic Immersion Summer Camp in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC in July 2026. Fifteen children from five states and abroad participated in a wholistic, impactful educational experience designed to empower Arabic learners from diverse backgrounds and varying proficiency levels. The program's integrated, experiential, STEM-focused project-based curriculum provided a comprehensive learning experience that equipped participants with valuable skills and meaningful knowledge. Participants were engaged throughout the program in fun, unique, authentic games and hands-on projects that inspired creativity and critical thinking. Within a culture-rich atmosphere, participants gained real life skills such as sewing, cooking, engineering, 3D design, upcycling, mixed media and performance art productions, and much more. This year's community service project was a kid-designed, kid-run Arab cafe that served authentic food and drinks within a highly interactive social experience extending to families, friends, and the larger community. Showcases and Souq (market) experiences included functional upcycled innovations, a kid-authored and designed recipe book of meals they cooked at camp along with drawings and nutritional analyses, as well as varieties of decorative and gift items that help campers remember the fun memories and timeless friendships they made in summer 2026.
مخيم كلمة الصيفي لتعلم اللغة والثقافة العربية من خلال المشاريع العلمية والفنية
في شهر تموز (يوليو) من صيف 2026، أقامت برامج كلمة فعاليات المخيم الصيفي التاسع في مجالات العلوم والتكنولوجيا والهندسة والفنون والرياضيات في ضواحي واشنطن العاصمة، ماريلاند
حضر المخيم 15 طفلاً بين سن 7 و 15 سنة، قدموا من خمس ولايات مختلفة ومن خارج أمريكا للمشاركة في تجربة تعليمية مميزة وشاملة صُممت خصيصاً لتمكين متعلمي اللغة العربية من خلفيات متنوعة ومستويات كفاءة متفاوتة
قام طاقم كلمة بتصميم المنهج الدراسي للبرنامج القائم على المشاريع والتعلم العملي الفاعل والمتكامل حول مشروع مقهى كلمة. كان مشروع المقهى تجربة تعليمية متكاملة زودتنا بمهارات قيمة ومعارف ذات مغزى. فانخرطنا طوال فترة البرنامج في أنشطة ممتعة وفريدة، شملت ألعاباً وأنشطة عملية عززت الإبداع والتفكير النقدي لدينا
وفي أجواء غنية بالثقافة العربية، اكتسبنا مهارات حياتية عملية مثل الخياطة، والطهي، والهندسة، والتصميم ثلاثي الأبعاد، وإعادة تدوير مواد الرسكلة والفنون متعددة الوسائط، والعروض الأدائية، وغيرها الكثير
وتَمَثَّلَ مشروع خدمة المجتمع لهذا العام في إنشاء وإدارة مقهى عربي من قِبَلنا نحن الأطفال، حيث قدمنا مأكولات ومشروبات أصيلة لعائلاتنا وأصدقائنا والمجتمع ضمن تجربة اجتماعية تفاعلية مسلية ومثرية مارسنا من خلالها التحدث بالعربية واكتسبنا مهارات تفيدنا في حياتنا العملية الآن وبالمستقبل
كما تضمنت فعاليات العرض الختامي والسوق ابتكارات عملية صنعناها من خلال إعادة تدوير المواد، وكتاباً للوصفات من تأليفنا وتصميمنا يضم الوجبات التي أعددناها في المخيم مع رسومات وتحليلات غذائية، بالإضافة إلى تشكيلة متنوعة من القطع الزخرفية والهدايا التي أتاحت لنا الاحتفاظ بذكريات ممتعة وصداقات راسخة شكلناها في صيف 2026

Kalimah’s Summer Program is a wholistic, impactful educational experience designed to empower participants through project-based learning primarily in Arabic. The program's integrated, experiential, STEM-focused curriculum provides a comprehensive learning experience that equips participants with valuable skills and knowledge. Participants are engaged throughout the program in fun, unique, authentic games and hands-on projects that inspire creativity and critical thinking. Within a culture-rich atmosphere, Kalimah aims to make a lasting positive impact on participants with structured and scaffolded meaningful real life skills development activities such as sewing, cooking, engineering innovations, among others. Campers are encouraged to continue to build on these skills beyond the program’s space and time at Kalimah’s monthly Arabic club meetings, at virtual and in-person year-round programs, and on their own. Global leaders of the future enjoy a global citizenship oriented framework that requires community service and a heightened awareness about social justice and environmental issues. Showcases and Souq (market) experiences bring it all together with project-based products that include functional upcycled innovations, recipe books, and varieties of decorative and gift items that are kid-made and sold to benefit charities of their choice or kept as keepsakes as reminders of the forever memories of fun times and timeless friendships made at Kalimah!
